Waterfront Blues Festival
Anguished guitar licks and wailing harmonica riffs echo off of the downtown high-rises every July during Portland's Waterfront Blues Festival. This four-day event showcases legendary artists from around the world, as well as many talented blues artists from the Northwest. Held at Tom McCall Waterfront Park along the Willammette River, the festival attracts thousands of music lovers each year, and benefits the Oregon Food Bank.
Aside from live performances on six stages, the Waterfront Blues Festival offers blues education and workshops. Many hands-on activities are available for kids, and the workshops provide novices and experts alike the chance to get up-close and personal with phenomenal musicians. The celebration is the 2nd-largest blues festival in the U.S., and has featured such artists as John Lee Hooker, Roy Rogers, and Los Lobos.
